Basic Skin Care Tips For People Of All Ages

Unhealthy and damaged skin can affect anyone, and it’s important that no matter how old you are - you’re looking after your skin. A lot of people don’t realize that skin care isn’t just about how it looks and feels, but the overall impact it can have on your body. For example, too much exposure to the sun without the right amount of care can lead to severe conditions, which everyone would be better off without.

Not everyone knows where to begin when it comes to taking better care of their skin, and as it’s usually very personalized to match your own skin; there are still things you absolutely cannot go without.

Exfoliate

Dead skin isn’t something you’re ever going to be able to avoid, it’s a natural part of our body's function. However, that dead skin isn’t necessarily going to remove itself, and that will build up over time. Exfoliating is one of the most important parts of any skincare routine, and you should be doing it up to two times a week. Without proper exfoliation, you’re more at risk of spots, and other skin care treatments won’t work on you as effectively.

Be sure you’re not exfoliating too harshly or too often, or else you risk damaging your skin. One or two times per week should be plenty to maintain healthy skin.

Moisturize

Depending on your skin and the environment that you’re in each day, moisturizing is highly important. Your skin can dry out, causing it to flake more often and wrinkle easier. Making sure you moisturize often and a part of your daily skincare routine will have your skin feeling and looking much healthier.

Note that depending on whether your skin is oily or dry, you may need to experiment with products to find the one that is best for you. Some products may even cause irritation, in which you should avoid using them at all costs.

Sunscreen

Whether you’re going out for a quick walk or spending the whole day outside, you should never go out without your sunscreen. It’s simply not worth getting burned, and if you’re not covering up, you run the risk of damaging your skin.

On top of the protection from the sun, some sunscreens have been said to reduce or slow the aging of your skin, which is an added benefit you’re getting while not getting burned! Avoid tanning

Getting a tan has been a trend for many years, but you should know that it’s not healthy for your skin at all. Going to the beach or going to a tanning salon can be dangerous for your skin, and too much exposure to UV rays can be very harmful and in some cases fatal. It’s much better to go with an approved tanning product instead. Getting a tan isn’t worth the danger it comes with, and it’s not something you can afford to do whenever the sun is out. A simple burn is a best-case scenario.
